Hair fierceness!!

How to maintain your ShortCut featuring Liette

2013-12-11 22.02.58Hey!

It’s that time again of the year! It gets very busy but I’m determined to finish the year strong by honoring my goal of 2 posts per week so here we go!

I get a lot of questions about maintaining a shortcut. Here are my advices:

1- Get REGULAR TRIMS

The most important thing to remember when it comes to keeping short hair looking great is to maintain the shape. This means regular trips to see your hairstylist. Make sure the back always looks proper.

2- Develop a hair regiment

Hair regiment is not only for natural hair care. Be sure to condition on a daily basis to keep hair from looking dry. Maintaining a good shampoo and conditioner routine is important because even though the hair is short, it still needs to be kept healthy and shiny.

3- Avoid product overload

If you’ve been relying on an array of styling products to keep your strands in shape, it might be time to take a break or at least be choosier with what you use. Certain hair care products can do more harm than good in the long run. Don’t overuse products like gels and pomades that can make hair look dull and greasy. Use 100% organic and natural products like coconut oil. Over-use of products can clog the hair cuticle and make hair lackluster, causing strands to look oily and lifeless.

2013-12-11 22.04.084- Use a wrap cap

It is crucial that your hair stays in place overnight. You will avoid using heat or unnecessary products on your hair. Furthermore, you will save a lot of time. Make sure to use a satin bonnet (very loosely) on top of your wrap cap to make sure your hair stays moisturized during the night.

I hope I was able to help someone!

Thank you to Liette for being my model and a trusting client!
