Hey! How is it going?
Sista Rae has been a regular client for a long time although she only comes for a bob with layers and color. She has to be THE client with the strongest & thickest hair, rapid hair growth and zero breakage horror stories. That’s why I say YES to her for coloring and not to all.
Color and relaxed hair usually don’t mix. WHY? A lot of women can’t even have back to back relaxers without experiencing breakage so thinking about adding another chemical process is completely absurd.
I only color relaxed hair if you are a regular client and I know your hair. I won’t color a first visit client. That would be irresponsible of me.
Here’s a few tips for clients who consider color:
Tip 1: Timing is everything.
The general guideline is to wait two weeks AND a shampoo between any chemical processing and coloring.
Tip 2: Shorten processing time
Because relaxed hair is more reactive to color, know that the processing time can be easily cut in half. A quick and strategic application is required!!
Tip 3: Condition, condition, condition!
I can’t say it enough. Relaxing treatments leave hair vulnerable. If you are not committed to care for your hair, this might not be the best option for you.
You can always had color using extensions. That’s what I suggest and do for 95% of my clients!
Have a great week & be blessed!
