Sunkissed Gold Color on Relaxed Hair

2016-09-20-21-01-12Hey! How is it going?

Sista Rae has been a regular client for a long time although she only comes for a bob with layers and color. She has to be THE client with the strongest & thickest hair, rapid hair growth and zero breakage horror stories. That’s why I say YES to her for coloring and not to all.

Color and relaxed hair usually don’t mix. WHY? A lot of women can’t even have back to back relaxers without experiencing breakage so thinking about adding another chemical process is completely absurd.

I only color relaxed hair if you are a regular client and I know your hair. I won’t color a first visit client. That would be irresponsible of me.

Here’s a few tips for clients who consider color:

  • Tip 1: Timing is everything.

The general guideline is to wait two weeks AND a shampoo between any chemical processing and coloring.

  • Tip 2: Shorten processing time

Because relaxed hair is more reactive to color, know that the processing time can be easily cut in half. A quick and strategic application is required!!

  • Tip 3: Condition, condition, condition!

I can’t say it enough. Relaxing treatments leave hair vulnerable. If you are not committed to care for your hair, this might not be the best option for you.

You can always had color using extensions. That’s what I suggest and do for 95% of my clients!

Have a great week & be blessed!

Faux Locs Different HairStyles (Week 2)

Quick POST!

As promised, I took more pictures on week 2. My hair got a little bit looser so I could have fun and play around with it more.

2016-09-09-00-49-08I didn’t plan none of theses styles, I just went with the flow and got inspired from my lipstick colors. Lol.

My favorite style is wearing my faux locs loose but I can’t work, sleep or exercise with my hair down so I must tie them half up, half down.

I will keep you updated week by week. Still loving this change!

I will talk to you next week!

Silk Press on Long Natural Hair featuring Clau

How is everyone doing? Most of you probably know this pretty face from blog posts on yearly length check.

If not, well Clau has been a client for a long time, she has a beautiful natural mane of 18 inches. Getting longer from year to year.

Her hair was already detangled when she arrived so we started with a wash, a deep treatment, blowdry and then the silk press.

Although she cut her ends 2 months ago, I made sure to revisit each area and cut what needed to be cut.

2016-09-13-18-47-14I did the whole process with Thermafuse line of products. She wanted loose curls so she could maintain her style using flexirods at night.

We were both really satisfied with the results. She said she would keep it for a week or so and come back for her favorite protective style which is a weave.

To book me or to get more information on my services, feel free to call me!

Cheers to an healthy & growing hair!

Have a blessed and productive week!

New HAIR ALERT: Faux Locs

So I have been rocking my long curly bob for the past 4 months!

2016-09-07-09-16-48I don’t remember wearing the same style for so long. I really enjoyed my lob. Easy to maintain and always classy looking.

Nevertheless, it was time! I wanted to protect my hair for a few months while still looking fierce!

As a hairstylist, I’m always looking for new trends, styles & hair. I have always like the faux locs look but a lot of them took forever to do (approximately 7 hours) or were too shiny.

2016-09-03-17-53-21I came across Faux Locs that looked very natural with the right amount of sheen and the right size for me. Furthermore, the fact that the loc has random curves to it adds to the ‘realness’ of the style. Crochet is the technique I used. There is a ‘professional’ way to crochet this hair so it looks like the real thing!

I have gotten a ton of compliments about my new style. I like it as well. It’s different and it just what I needed: CHANGE is good! Quick , effective and not heavy at all.

If you want to do the same style, give me a call. I provide the hair. Serious Inquiries Only.

I will talk to you soon and provide more pictures.

Be blessed!

Jessica Alba Inspired Wedding Updo + Makeup

2016-08-31 19.29.40Hey!

Quick post!

My dear friend and client Kathy is a regular whenever she has a special event.

She wanted something elegant, flowy that looks effortless.

jessica-alba-braided-updo-backI was able to achieve her Jessica Alba inspired vision.

We started with a good old tight roller set with smaller rollers to create flowy curls and volume.

Then I combed her hair using my fingers (no combs) and added pins to secure the bun. I also added a piece for extra volume. Voilà!

I also did her makeup. She was wearing a beautiful A-line shaped peach dress with embellishment on the high waist.

Therefore, we went with soft neutral eyes with eyelashes and bolder lips.

She really loved it. I wished I had a picture of the entire look with the outfit!

Wedding Hair & Makeup: Big sister of the broom!

image2 (2)Hey!

Lina, superwoman and mother of 3 boys, is a regular. Her brother was getting married so she wanted to look very elegant without being over the top.

image3 (1)Therefore we went with her usual length of 12′ and roller setted her extensions to create natural volume and lightness.

As for as her makeup, she wanted to accentuate her eyes and keep the lips neutral. We added lashes to complete the look and give it more glam. She was very pleased with the results.

image1 (5)The 2016 wedding season, which starting end of april for me, is slowy coming to an end.
